Three generations, one yard, the same few postcodes.
Ray Garside started with a van and a cement mixer in 1979. His sons and grandsons still run every job, from a yard off Colney Hatch Lane. We'd rather build forty houses a year properly than four hundred quickly.
Our story
Built on referrals since 1979.
- 1979
Ray Garside, a bricklayer from Hornsey, starts out on his own repointing terraces and building garden walls.
- 1991
The first rear extension. Ray's wife, Pat, runs the office from the front room and keeps every client's drawings in a filing cabinet that's still in the yard.
- 1998
Sons Mark and Steve join. The firm moves into Colney Yard and takes on its first loft conversions and a full-time joiner.
- 2014
Grandsons Danny and Tom finish their apprenticeships and later become site managers. Weekly photo updates to clients begin, by text at first.
- Today
Fourteen people on the payroll, around forty jobs a year, and a client progress portal. Ray still visits most sites on a Friday.
