ElevensesAbout

Started over a cup of tea.

Elevenses began in 2016 in one floor of a Clerkenwell printworks, with twelve desks and a borrowed kettle.

Work near home, not at it.

Our founders were two architects who'd spent a year working from their kitchen tables and missed the bits of an office that nobody puts in the brochure: the person at the next desk, the walk to the station, a reason to put shoes on.

They didn't want a tower in the City. They wanted somewhere ten minutes from home, in a building with some history, where you could get a good desk for a day without signing anything. So they found an empty printworks floor, put down twelve desks and a kettle, and told the neighbours.

Ten years on there are five buildings. Each one was made for something else: ink, rope, milk, pianos, cloth. We keep as much of that as we can, and we pick buildings near where people live rather than where companies have their headquarters.

Why eleven o'clock?

Because it's late enough that everyone has arrived and early enough that nobody is in the zone yet. Ten minutes, one pot, a plate of something from round the corner. It is the only meeting we insist on.

Five things we won't do.

  1. 01

    Hide prices

Every price is on this site, per building, and the finder shows its working.

  2. 02

    Lock you in

Memberships roll monthly. Offices can too. Leaving takes one email.

  3. 03

    Build new

We only take old buildings and we keep what makes them old. No new glass towers.

  4. 04

    Charge for tea

Or coffee, or printing, or bringing a friend for the day.

  5. 05

    Fill every corner

We stop selling desks at 85% so there is always somewhere to sit.
