Twenty cuts from our chairs, each with the words and guard numbers to ask for. Save the ones you like and show your barber on the day.

Guard numbers, decoded
Clipper guards are measured in eighths of an inch. The lower the number, the shorter. A fade moves through several.
- 0Clipper with no guard, about 1 mm. Foil or razor goes shorter: "skin".
- 13 mm. Very short, scalp visible.
- 26 mm. Short and neat, the classic "short back and sides".
- 310 mm. Short but soft; colour of the hair shows.
- 413 mm. Length you can run a hand through.
- ScissorAnything over 2 cm, cut over a comb or between fingers.
