Moving, marrying, parting, passing on. Plain-English law for the big moments, from a Dorking firm of eight.

Most people need a solicitor three or four times in their life, and almost never at a convenient moment. A sale falls through, a parent dies, a marriage ends, a job goes wrong. You want someone local who picks up the phone, tells you what will happen next and what it will cost, then gets on with it.

That's what we've done from the same yard off the High Street since 1974. We're eight people: four solicitors, a chartered legal executive, a trainee, Claire who runs the front desk, and a kettle that's rarely cold.

Every service in these pages opens with the same three answers: what happens, how long it takes, and what it costs. Most of our personal work is done for a fixed fee. Every price is published, including the extras.

If you're not sure whether you need us at all, the first 20 minutes are free. We'll tell you honestly, even if the answer is "you can do this yourself".

Leader

Three straight answers before you instruct anyone.

  1. 01

    What happens

Every service page opens with a timeline of the stages, what you'll need to do at each one, and what we'll be doing in the meantime.

  2. 02

    How long it takes

Honest estimates, such as 8 to 12 weeks for a freehold purchase, and a short update each week so you're never left guessing.

  3. 03

    What it costs

Fees, VAT and third-party costs, each on its own line. Fixed wherever we can. See every price.
