Our story.Thirty-seven years on one parade.
Harjit and Surinder Malhi came to north London from Jalandhar and opened a forty-cover tandoori here in 1989. Harjit ran the tandoor; Surinder cooked the curries the way her mother did, and on Sundays cooked for the family in the same kitchen.
Their children, Simran and Jas, grew up in the restaurant. In 2019 they took over: Simran runs the front, Jas the kitchen. They kept the menu numbers, the charcoal, the recipes and the regulars. They changed the rest: their own ordering and delivery at restaurant prices, allergens on every dish, a banquet for big tables, and Mum’s Sunday cooking on the menu as the thali.
Example story for a fictional business.
