P.04 The table edit

The long table, laid for eight
Laid for eight in October: stoneware from Devon, candles dipped in Frome and a runner of washed linen. The bowls nest, the plates stack, and the candles burn for about nine hours.
P.10 Supper

Supper, slowly
Pale bowls on pale plates, a speckled jug and a tea towel that has seen a few winters. Everything here goes in the dishwasher, the tea towel included.
P.11 Breakfast

Seven a.m.
The oat-glaze mug, in the only light that matters. 330ml, a thumb-rest on the handle, and freckles from the iron in the clay, so no two match.
P.01 On the cover

The cover, credited
A lambswool crew from a small knitter in the Dales and the ink-glaze mug we sell more of than anything else. The jumper comes in five sizes; the mug in three glazes.
P.16 The shop floor

4 Saddlers Yard, at four o’clock
Vases by the counter, a throw on the ladder, soap on the shelf by the door. If you would rather see it in person, ring and we will keep it behind the counter for 48 hours.
